    Kinship - Service - Recovery

What is the Blue Flame Abbey

Igniting the flame of intuition - stirring your still, small inner voice, expanding and clarifying your life-force energy.

Blue Flame Abbey is comprised of many compassionate beings providing extraordinary service to members of our communities everyday in diverse disciplines and through unique approaches.

Blue Flame Abbey is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may find solutions to their common challenges and help others to recover from their suffering and agitated mind. The only requirement for membership is a desire to begin the recovery process. There are no dues or fees for membership; we are fully self supporting through our own contributions. We are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, or institution. We do not wish to engage in any controversy and we neither endorse nor oppose any causes. Our primary purpose is to free ourselves from suffering, and to help all sentient beings achieve the same freedom.

More than thirty years ago, founding abbot, annie Yakuza loyd, observed the current structures for enlightenment - spiritual experience - awakened consciousness, seemed obscure to many human beings. As she traveled and met different practitioners, she observed a common thread among all -

    • Enlightened beings were often anonymous in their gifts of compassion, outreach and understanding,
    • Enlightened beings arranged their schedules, without hesitation, to support folks,
    • Enlightened beings believed a consciousness was rising out of the ashes of destruction,
    • Enlightened beings experienced existing structures inadequate to meet rising needs in the communities they served,
    • Enlightened beings were seeking to discover a new language to communicate the awakened conscious and
    • Enlightened beings were not going to wait for someone else to led, they're just "getting it done".

Blue Flame Abbey provides an essence filled community, a point of connection. Both for seekers of support and seekers of community to be connected with one another, learn from one another and share our experience, strength and hope.

Blue Flame Abbey is a caldron - a place to hold intention and a place to hold space as we continue to evolve, grow and awaken.

"We can learn the art of fierce compassion - redefining strength, deconstructing isolation and renewing a sense of community, practicing letting go of rigid us-vs.-them thinking - while cultivating power and clarity in response to difficult situations."

    Sharon Salzberg

    Kinship

    A passionate universal outlook.

Our journey for enlightenment is a human instinct.

We are all children of the same universe.

Connection to and expansion of life-force energy is in our DNA.

By being connected to one another, we develop the flexibility and perspective needed to create whatever is called for now in our communities. We need to be connected as trailblazers, experimenting with new solutions to chronic challenges. We need to be connected as change-makers, working to transform existing systems. And we need to be connected as storytellers, illuminating what our new world could look like.

After hundreds of interviews we have discovered "mentoring" fails to communicate the deep relationships we are seeking and have developed. Relationships that grow regardless of space and time. Relationships that are known deep in our souls.

We use the word "kinship" to represent the relationships we are developing and continue to nurture:

    • Offering what has been taught to us,
    • Offering our experience, strength and hope,
    • Offering our wisdom - the integration of our experience and knowledge.

“Without exception, we are all all born as human beings, uncorrupted by ideology, dogma, politics, prejudice, intolerance, bigotry and hate. No one on earth escapes this undisputed reality. Everything that follows is taught and learned; a facade, manufactured to disguise the common bond of humanity. When you strip away the ignorance and narcissism and look beyond the labels and classifications, the elementary foundation of humankind abides. So I ask you; why do we willfully neglect our most significant unifying attribute in favour of so many destructive and divisive things that abrogate our elemental kinship? Above everything else, we are one.”

    ― Jim McHarg

    Service

Freely giving what has been so freely given to us.

Servant leaders in our communities, building bridges - offering compassion.

Lao-Tzu wrote about servant leadership in the fifth-century BC: "The highest type of ruler is one of whose existence the people are barely aware…. The Sage is self-effacing and scanty of words. When his task is accomplished and things have been completed, all the people say, 'We ourselves have achieved it!'"

The modern era of servant leadership began with a paper, The Servant as Leader, written by Robert Greenleaf in 1970. In it, he said: "The servant leader is servant first … It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead … (vs. one who is leader first…) … The best test, and difficult to administer, is: Do those served grow as persons … (and become) more likely themselves to become servants?"

"You are never strong enough that you don't need help." - Cesar Chavez

"I truly believe that everything that we do and everyone that we meet is put in our path for a purpose. There are no accidents; we're all teachers - if we're willing to pay attention to the lessons we learn, trust our positive instincts and not be afraid to take risks or wait for some miracle to come knocking at our door." - Marla Gibbs

We are committed to supporting and serving those who serve in our communities - locally and globally.

    Recovery

Hope begins in the darkness of our awakening to seek a new design for living.

Recovery means starting again from where ever we are and becoming more creative, beautiful, wise, strong and resilient than before.

Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different.”

    ― Oprah Winfrey

Building healthy and resilient communities is the thread that weaves through all our work. We believe that community resilience is a property of relationship.

"Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us."

    – Wilma Rudolph

The Blue - of Blue Flame Abbey

    A mosaic of life-force essence.

“Love is the opposite of fear and it lights the flames of a million hearts.”

    ― Amy Leigh Mercree

Reality is a metaphor in which we quest to find answers to the greater truth of who we are and why we are here. Something in our souls tells us that change is happening on a global consciousness level. It is said the blue frequency is part of that.

The color Blue links to higher/future frequencies of consciousness as we spiral up through the patterns of Sacred Geometry. The Rebirth of Consciousness.

Blue is the color of electricity.

The Blue Flame is our pilot light – our life-force – let's stoke the fire within!
